New Drop! Alice: Curiouser and curiouser, V&A

Covering the V&A’s shop is really difficult.

There’s too much good stuff to choose from, and I invariably leave the website with a large parcel on the way. The Alice in Wonderland exhibition exclusives are no exception to this rule, with collaborations with Tatty Devine and Kristjana S Williams as well as a whole collection of beautiful picture books and prints…basically everything seems to have a “Buy Me” label on it. But it’s not like I’m going anywhere this month and so just a few little bits and pieces won’t break the bank, would it?

It’s a little bit Missoni, it’s big enough to put your phone in, it’s just the ticket for all the parties we are god damned owed. Want.

Oh , god. Its very lovely isn’t it? And silk squares are super wardrobe enablers. Its 100% silk and a good size - 90cmx90cm. You probably ought to get it really.

The Queen’s Croquet Ground silk scarf £120

Can’t quite justify £120 on a silk square? Well Katjana has obligingly designed a little lens cloth just for you, and it also does an excellent job of externalising the emotional experience of returning to the office during a global pandemic every time you wipe a colleague’s spittle off your laptop.

There is loads of excellent Tatty Devine jewellery in this collection but this one stands out for me because a) it will jolly up a black dress in an intriguing way and b) when you are forced once again to interact with colleagues of members of the public and your cheeks can’t stand up to the new strain of forcing a smile you can hold this grin up to your face instead.

Check out the V&A’s letterpress prints of the Victorian maxims around the building, they are also awesome. This one is going above the guest loo to unnerve visitors.
